Outback Station Adventure
Whether you want to get down and dirty whilst helping with the mustering or you just simply want to watch the action- the Outback Station Adventure allows you to do all this and much more on one of the largest cattle stations in Queensland.This is a place where the sun beats down on action and excitement. Somewhere you can experience some of the most spectacular and remote, rough and untamed country in Australia’s outback. This one million acre property (or four thousand square kilometres) truly is one of Mt Isa’s unspoiled regions.
As one of the largest cattle stations in outback Queensland, the station runs between 10 to 15 thousand head of cattle. The land is spectacular; it’s huge, rugged and beautiful. You can join the stockmen for a muster on horseback, 4WD, motorbike or helicopter and you can also venture down to the stockyards to see all the action first hand including the drafting and branding of cattle. Add to that the excitement of four wheel drive adventures across rough terrain.
Tours range from 1, 2, 3, to 4 days and cater for 1 to 4 people (children included if supervised by an adult). Accommodation and all meals will be provided at the homestead. Tours run from March/April to October depending on the weather.
A typical day’s itinerary and some experiences you’ll have include:
Camping Tours
Rugged Aussie Adventures camping tours embody the real Australia- wildlife, bush tucker, waterfalls, wetlands, tranquil springs, scrubby bush land and amazing gorges. Specializing in venturing away from normality, you’ll experience a wonderful feeling of isolation and tranquillity.Up to 4 people can enjoy a 2 - 4 day camping tour to an oasis in the desert outback, including a visit to Lawn Hill Gorge and its beautiful waterfalls. Fish for barramundi or black bream, go swimming or experience a multitude of bird and wildlife including black cockatoos, parrots, lorikeets, kangaroos, pigs, dingoes and cows.
Finish the days watching the sun come down, listening to a few yarns around the campfire and falling asleep under the stars…. All your equipment is included - all you need to bring are the essentials for a camping trip- clothes, sunscreen and good walking boots.
Fishing Tours
The land is spectacular; teamed with the fish-rich river systems and billabongs. The fishing at this wonderland is an anglers dream barramundi hunting ground. So take up the barramundi challenge. It's Australia's best fighting fish with sizes of 15-20kg being caught in the local lakes as well as black brim and long tom. Or we can take you up to the gulf country to fish the salt-water rivers for more barramundi, king salmon and grunter.Outback Rodeo Adventure
Experience the true outdoors on this extraordinary Outback Rodeo adventure. Watch a rodeo and enjoy some of the most exciting rodeo events. See the speed and skill of the 'rope and tie' and take a look at the cowboys wrestling bulls.Not to forget the stylized and highly skilful classic rodeo events like saddle bronc riding and the spectators favourite, the bull riding, certainly the most exciting and dangerous event. One of the Rugged Aussie Adventures guides will also compete in the rodeo.
The Outback Rodeo Adventure represents an age old tradition of the outback so you’ll experience it in it’s entirety as you sleep in your swag under the stars.
